River Hawk Farm "The Horse: Here is nobility without conceit, friendship without envy, beauty without vanity, a willing servant, yet no slave."
Author unknown.

Dan and Karol (Dietrich) Forner and their daughter, Katherine, moved to the Columbia River Gorge area of Corbett, Oregon in 1995 from San Francisco. Their farm, located along the Historic Columbia River Highway, is home four registered Morgans who graze happily in this scenic area of Oregon. Dan and Karol both grew up with horses, and their daughter rode weekly at Golden Gate Park Stables. They all knew they wanted horses in their lives again when they moved to their new farm life.
Katherine found a wonderful Quarter Horse “Poco” and presented him in her high school 4-H programs. Karol found a beautiful, black Morgan mare -- WEO Alphie Mott. And, within two years time bought her dam – Bare Essence.
Karol’s plans for Alphie to be her foundation mare resulted in a beautiful filly sired by JMF White Knight (Windover Regency x Perinton Bonny Lea). The filly, WFF Knighthawk Elegance typifies what Morgan owners love – beauty, brains, and classic lineage.
Karol set her sites on a foal from Bare Essence (Eaton’s Brigadoon x Windon Camelot). In 2006, one last call went out to an equine veterinarian in Idaho, Dirk Vanderwall, DVM, Assistant Equine Professor at the University of Idaho performed a successful oocyte transfer. The Forner’s selected Chandelle High Orion (Oh Starwatch x Equinox Manifikate). Both Essie’s and High Orion’s top and bottom include Waer’s Lady Godvia and Katy Bennfield.
A stunning colt was born at River Hawk Farm on June 25, 2007 – RVK Pennington. WFF Knighthawk Elegance also produced a stunning colt sired by Cadeceus Denver (Wyoming Flyhawk x Topside Sable) on May 25, 2007. Both colts will be placed into stud barns perhaps as early as 2012. Both will be at the upcoming Oregon Morgan Classic show in Salem, Oregon in July 2009.

Our farm goal is to breed the best Morgans for future generations to enjoy.
